The carbon is coming from the heat riser outlets. Over the years they have heated the oil on the underside of the outlets to the point of forming carbon bits. It&#8217;s a series of tubes that attach to the shop vac. The tubes can be added or removed so you can get the right size to get in tight spots. I&#8217;ll do that. The  high volume oil pump should handle that OK. I&#8217;ve used a high volume pump on a high mileage Chryco 360 and it increased oil pressure overall over 5 lbs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/kgworks.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/IMG_3039.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/kgworks.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/IMG_3039.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4705\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kgworks.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/IMG_3039.jpg 768w, https:\/\/kgworks.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/IMG_3039-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 767px) 89vw, (max-width: 1000px) 54vw, (max-width: 1071px) 543px, 580px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;ve scraped away all the old gasket and then sanded the timing cover seal surface and water pump mounts with 150 grit to remove any leftover gasket material or corrosion.
